Endometrial cancer in the molecular era: from pathology to personalized treatment strategies

About this Special Issue

  1. Manuscript Summary Submission Deadline 30 June 2026 | Manuscript Submission Deadline 31 July 2026

Background

Endometrial cancer (EC) is a gynaecological malignancy of rising incidence and mortality. Beyond the conventional histopathological risk factors, the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project established four molecular subclasses (POLE-mutated [POLEmut], mismatch repair deficient [MMRd], no specific molecular profile [NSMP]) with essential prognostic and predictive significance. Today, molecular classification of EC has been fundamentally integrated into the FIGO staging system and into the therapeutic decision-making process of both adjuvant and palliative settings. In addition, HER2 and estrogen receptor (ER) statuses are also parameters that should be taken into consideration under certain circumstances. All these emerging data have already contributed to a paradigm shift in endometrial cancer treatment, with further refinements anticipated across the entire spectrum of EC care.

This Special Issue focuses on the evolving molecular landscape of endometrial cancer and its clinical implications. We welcome contributions addressing translational research, diagnostic pathology, and clinical management, with the aim of outlining current opportunities and future directions in the molecularly-driven care of endometrial cancer .
Potential areas of interest may include, but are not limited to:
● pathological issues
● surgical approaches
● fertility preservation
● comprehensive adjuvant management
● palliative treatment
● personalized therapy

Authors are welcome to submit articles presenting original studies or literature review work. Please consult the journal's information regarding Author Guidelines, Article Types, andPublishing Fees, or direct any questions to the Editorial Office: por@por-journal.com.

Even though abstract submission is not mandatory, we encourage all interested researchers to submit a “manuscript summary” before submitting their article. Manuscript summaries do not have to coincide with the final abstract of the article.
